Trestle or Round? Picking the Perfect Table for Your Event
Tables are the unsung heroes of any gathering. They’re where the food lands, where the chatting happens and where everyone naturally drifts throughout the day. The big question we hear most often is a simple one: round or trestle?
When round tables win
Round tables are brilliant for anything where conversation is the main event — weddings, dinner parties and milestone birthdays. Because everyone can see one another, the chat flows nicely and no one feels stuck at the end of a long row. Our 1.5m and 1.8m rounds comfortably seat eight to ten guests, which is just right for a relaxed, sociable table.
When trestle tables are the better shout
Trestle tables are the workhorses of the hire world, and we wouldn’t be without them. They’re perfect for buffets, market stalls, exhibitions and any time you need a long, practical surface. They tuck neatly against walls, line up beautifully for big catered meals and are an absolute doddle to set up.
A quick way to decide
- Sit-down meal with lots of mingling? Go round.
- Buffet, display or stall? Trestle every time.
- Tight on space? Trestles line up neatly along the edges of a room.
- Want a softer, more elegant look? Rounds dressed with linen are hard to beat.
Why not both?
Plenty of our customers mix the two — rounds for dining and a couple of trestles for the food, gifts or the all-important cake. There’s no rule that says you have to pick just one!
